Duomo in Florence at Sunset
Posted by Avital Pinnick on June 17, 2012
This photo was taken on a different night. I can’t believe I actually hiked up to Piazzale Michelangelo twice!
This photo was taken about 20 minutes after sunset (I should have reset my camera clock but I didn’t, so the real time is about 8:21 p.m.). The lights of the Duomo had just gone on and there was enough light left to illuminate the clouds. The palace on the left side of the picture is the Palazzo Vecchio or Palazzo Signoria, the seat of government in Florence since the time of the Medicis. The dark shapes in the background are the Apennine mountains. Although the weather threatened rain several times, the clouds at sunset were wonderful to photograph. We don’t get too many sunsets like this in the desert!
