Hanukkah Lights at Work

Hanukkah Lights at Work

Every night of Hanukkah, at 5 p.m., we light candles, sing Maoz Tsur, and eat donuts in the dairy cafeteria at work. The donuts (sufganiyot) are an Israeli Hanukkah custom, supposedly an adaptation of deep-fried Greek pastries. A couple times a week we also get cold potato latkes because, as everyone knows, it’s hard to get enough calories during Hanukkah. 🙂

I’m not very fond of sufganiyot (well, maybe only the dulce con leche ones!), but here are some recipes and videos if you want to try them.

I’ve loved hearing about your Hanukkah traditions. Beautiful pictures and fascinating reading.
